SUMMARY OF RESEARCH BEING UNDERTAKEN

The objective is to establish the nature of mutations in GABEB and PA-JEB patients and to generate a mouse model for GABRB. Knowledge about the nature of mutations in different patients is important because it allows correlation's to be established between various abnormal genotypes and the phenotypes they produce. This information is essential for prenatal diagnosis and genetic counselling.
