A personal milestone reached, for DEBRA Ireland Patient Ambassador

DEBRA Ireland Patient Ambassador Emma Fogarty, living with RDEB, passed her driving test.

Although this year didn't start out great for me (I was quite sick and had to spend quite a lot of time in hospital), fortunately the second half is looking much better. I celebrated my 30th birthday at the Kerry Challenge in June and a few weeks later I passed my driving test.

As one of the ten ambassadors in the Nissan Generation Next initiative, I was awarded the use of a Nissan vehicle for a year. I knew this was the year I wanted to sit my driving test. This wouldn't have been possible without Nissan's generous support and huge thanks also to DEBRA Ireland for introducing me to the company.

The Herald newspaper interviewed me recently as I'm the first woman with RDEB in Ireland to pass the test.
