Updated: Mar 11, 2022

DEBRA International is delighted to announce the First Art exhibition for EB children in Egypt and worldwide in cooperation with Yasmin El-Samra Charitable Foundation for EB ,Debra-Egypt hosted by the Russian House in Cairo , which was Sunday, 13th February at 5 pm where the EB young artists participated in the opening ceremony. The Art Exhibition continued for three days.

It was inaugurated by Prominent International Soprano Amira Selim, in the presence of Dr. Murad Gatin, Director of Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt, and Mr Sherif Gad, President of the Egyptian Association of Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities.

For her part, Mrs Hanaa El-Sadat, the Foundation’s Board of Trustees Chairwomen, who was chosen among the 50 most inspiring women in Egypt in 2022 stated that she decided to establish a Charitable Foundation in 2014

after the death of her daughter Yasmin in 2012.

It is noteworthy that Yasmin El-Samra was the youngest caricaturist in Egypt, since she was nine years old when she made her first exhibition and donated part of the income of selling her drawings to EB children in Egypt in 2007, and the exhibitions continued until she passed away at the age of 15 in 2012 and left a beautiful legacy through her first charitable foundation in Egypt to care for EB patients .

It was a joyful and beautiful day and the children felt that they have an important role in life and that their art is the only inspiring source to relieve their pain.

Mrs. Hanaa honored the organizers of the exhibition's success and distributed certificates of appreciation to all Challenged Butterflies EB Children.

A special thank you to Dr. Maryam Medan, Therapeutic Arts & Mindfulness Practitioner, who volunteered to teach EB children at Yasmin Elsamra Foundation Debra Egypt, how to use Mandala drawings on pieces of wood and use their inner soul with music and colours.
