MEET THE TEAM

Mary-Jean Howard is the CEO of DEBRA Australia and is based in Sydney, Australia.

As someone who has committed the majority of her career to charity management, once Mary-Jean became aware of EB, "the worst disease you've never heard of", she was deeply moved by the cause. Forever changed, this awareness drove her to join DEBRA Australia in April 2024, where she feels privileged to serve the EB Community, leading them forward towards a future free from pain.

As part of the DEBRA International Executive Committee, Mary-Jean welcomes the opportunity to make a further difference in the lives of those living with EB, working collaboratively as a global community to amplify change through engagement with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including DEBRA member countries and industry partners.

Coming from a diverse career background spanning international trade and charity management, coupled with a Master’s in Community Management, Mary-Jean plans to utilise her broad skillset to best support the future direction of DEBRA International, including EB Without Borders initiatives and DEBRA International Round Table of Companies.

In her spare time, Mary-Jean loves spending time with family and friends, listening to audiobooks or podcasts, and enjoying time in nature.
