Hanaa El-Sadat, Founder and Chairwoman of the Yasmin El Samra Foundation-DEBRA Egypt and Executive Committee member of DEBRA International was a key speaker at the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Organisation for Rare Diseases annual meeting held in Dubai between 3rd and 5th March 2023.
It was an event that was well attended by researchers, those affected by a rare disease, and their families. The event was organised to share the views of 109 speakers through 15 workshops, and included 107 lectures and 21 CME hours.
This was a platform to enable experts and researchers to share their vast knowledge and updates in a wide spectrum of medical fields of dermatology, neurology, cardiology, pulmonary, nephrology, endocrine, hematology, oncology, genetics, and ophthalmology. Rare diseases and their families were actively involved in lectures, discussions with experts and family group interactions.
The highlight of the event was raising awareness of EB. It was an an eye-opener for most attendees at the conference, given that they were unacquainted with EB and how it is managed.
The role of DEBRA International and the presence of DEBRA in 50 countries was shared as was the ambition of having DEBRA groups in all Arab countries.
