Hanaa El Sadat, founder of the Yasmine El Samra Foundation – DEBRA Egypt, has been named one of Egypt’s “Women of Impact”, a prestigious national award honoring exceptional women who are driving change and making a lasting difference in their communities and beyond.
This award celebrates Hanaa’s unwavering dedication to supporting children with epidermolysis bullosa (EB) and her pioneering role in raising awareness, advocacy, and care across Egypt and the Arab world. Through her foundation, she has provided vital support to hundreds of families and brought national attention to the challenges faced by those living with rare diseases.
As the first Egyptian and Arab woman to be elected to the Executive Committee of DEBRA International, Hanaa has also played a key role in ensuring regional representation and amplifying the voices of EB patients within the global rare disease community.
The Women of Impact Award, presented by the Women of Egypt Network in collaboration with L’Oréal Paris, highlights Hanaa’s commitment to turning personal loss into purposeful action. Her work through the Yasmine Elsamra Foundation, named in memory of her daughter, continues to be a beacon of hope for families affected by EB.
This recognition follows her earlier international honor: the Margarette Golding Award, awarded by the International Inner Wheel in 2022, for outstanding personal service to the community.
Hanaa’s leadership and compassion continue to inspire those working in the rare disease space, and her latest award reaffirms her position as a changemaker and advocate not only in Egypt, but across the global EB community.
