DEBRA Slovenia Celebrates 20 Years of Work with a Regional Symposium

This year, DEBRA Slovenia marked an important milestone – 20 years of existence and dedicated efforts to improve the quality of life for people living with epidermolysis bullosa (EB) and their families. To celebrate the anniversary, we organized a regional symposium that brought together experts, members, partners, and friends of the DEBRA community.

A Look Back at 20 Years of Work and Symposium Highlights

The opening part of the event was dedicated to presenting two decades of the association’s work, achievements, and the challenges that have shaped our journey. This was followed by professional presentations on occupational therapy in Slovenia and Croatia, as well as insights into the experiences of people with EB as patients.

Participants were also introduced to the latest developments in the treatment and care of individuals with EB, and special attention was given to Ana’s personal story, presented as part of the Chiesi project.

The results of surveys on the challenges of parenthood were also presented, offering valuable reflections on how to better support families navigating life with EB.

Roundtable Discussion: Looking Ahead

A roundtable discussion followed, focusing on how we envision DEBRA Slovenia in the next ten years. The conversation brought forward meaningful ideas and visions that will help guide our future work.

A Pleasant Conclusion to the Day

After the official part of the symposium, participants visited the Olimje chocolate shop and the third-oldest pharmacy in Europe. The day concluded with relaxed and enjoyable socializing, strengthening the bonds within our community.
