Graeme Souness CBE, the former international footballer and current Vice President of DEBRA UK, recently completed an epic swim challenge to raise awareness of EB and funding for the charity.
The challenge took place between April 30th and May 1st, with Graeme and a team of five completing the epic swim in a speedy 22 hours.
So far, the challenge has raised almost £730,000. This vital funding will go towards testing potential drug treatments for EB.
As well as raising much-needed funding, Graeme’s latest challenge has also helped raise awareness of EB; supporting media appearances reached an estimated audience of 10m and included interviews on national TV and radio.
Commenting on the challenge, Graeme said:
“We’re so grateful for the support we’ve received. The many messages of goodwill and the generous sponsorship are very much appreciated. The funds raised through this challenge will make a difference. We’re not there yet though, the fight to stop the pain of EB goes on. There are any more drugs that we need to test. So, please stay with us on this journey”.
