The conference took place between 3rd and 5th May 2023 in Milan, Italy, and was attended by 5,006 registered participants from 96 countries.
As an international partner of EWMA, DEBRA International was offered a speaking slot, three speaker passes, and a booth space at the conference. As well as branded takeaways, the DEBRA International clinical practice guidelines, patient versions, infographics, and other EB information resources were presented at the booth.
The speaking slot was given to three EB nurses from the UK, Caroline Mackenzie and Kati Paalosalo-Harris, EB Clinical Nurse Specialists from Guys' and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, London; and Janet Hanson, EB Advanced Nurse Practitioner from Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. Their presentation, "Beyond wound care - Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to the management of patients with EB" describing multidisciplinary working to treat EB patients in the UK included a brief overview of EB and RDEB in particular, followed by three case studies and a description of DEBRA International at the end.
